“There is no box!” is the end-of-course art exhibition featuring three groups of students from the Exploration program, designed for ages 5-8 at the Vietnam Contemporary Art Academy (VCVAA). The program aims to enhance the visual art experience across various visual art mediums such as drawing, painting, cutting/collage, printing, handicrafts, combined art, 3D modeling, etc. Additionally, the program focuses on supporting students in creating meaningful artworks to develop confidence in creativity and expression through art.

The exhibition includes the following display areas:

2. Mirror Reflection

Rub the surface under your shoes and then press your hand onto paper, imagining your portrait reflecting through a large mirror. Draw the reflection on the paper.

3. Insects

After gaining inspiration about insects through observation, games, and sharing ideas, students conceptualize and create insect models using wooden sticks and various materials such as cellophane paper, fabric, felt, etc., during 2 class sessions.

3D Sculpture

4. Ah, Rub-a-Dub!

Students are introduced to a technique called Rubbing. Using the Rubbing technique along with oil pastels, the surfaces of various materials come to life. Students participate in classes both indoors and outdoors to explore natural and artificial surfaces.

5. Serenity
Create artworks to express understanding and feelings of serenity within oneself. It could be a memory that brings a sense of peace, a person, or a landscape.

6. Transformation

You have the freedom to create 2D or 3D shapes using various types of paper fibers, either based on imagination or through exploration and experimentation with paper.

7. Symmetry
Expand your shaping ideas by exploring diverse architectural structures, towers, and the world of animals. Shape three-dimensionally using wooden blocks. Subsequently, use your imagination to draw on paper and simulate the towers or animals you’ve created.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8. Experimentation

Drawing experimentation showcases artworks from a series of experiential learning sessions. These sessions are designed to help students become more open to practical artistic thinking, allowing for a deeper exploration and connection with themselves.

9. Freedom
For a class at VCVAA, free drawing is an indispensable ‘culture’ in every session of your Exploration class. At the age of 5-8, children draw to tell stories, so free drawing is a ‘culture.’ Free drawing creates space for students to connect with themselves and express on paper through visual means. Adults need to fully embrace the child’s “being” on paper to listen, understand, and empathize more.

The exhibition is curated and organized by a small group of artists – students from the Exploration program (KP03, KP04 & KP05).
