LISTENING TO SOUND, PAINTING MELODIES OF ART

Every class in Exploration is a whimsical journey where VCVAA students not only traverse the vast realms of the Visual Arts kingdom but also travel through vibrant “planets” of knowledge – Music, Geography, Science, and more. In this adventure, Music became a spirited companion, guiding the way into a creative world shaped by imagination and emotion.
Led by their teacher, students were introduced to the Guitar, Electric Guitar, and Kalimba. They learned to identify each part of these instruments, distinguish between them, and most importantly, listen – truly listen – to their unique sounds: from the resonant strum of guitar strings to the crisp, bell-like notes of the kalimba. Music became the spark for keen observation, feeling, and artistic expression.
And from these instruments before them, each student imagined – then painted – a world of their own. A personal universe of images, sensations, and creativity came alive through their hands. This art class was more than just lines and colors; it was a symphony of sounds, senses, and stories seen through the eyes and hearts of children.
At VCVAA, Exploration classes are carefully crafted through a cross-disciplinary approach – where art connects with music, biology, geography, and many other facets of life. By bridging these fields, students develop not only their artistic thinking but also their powers of observation, expression, and a richer, more creative understanding of the world around them.
The journey of artistic discovery is always wide open, filled with wonders waiting to unfold. Let’s continue to walk alongside our young artists and keep the flame of creativity shining bright!
