DISCOVER TEXTURE & RUBBING: A CLASS FULL OF TEXTURES AND SURPRISES!
Where does the magic begin? Nothing fancy: just a blank sheet of paper, a crayon, and a bumpy surface nearby. That’s all it took for VCVAA students to magically create a world of unique textures and patterns.
In their lesson on Texture & Rubbing, students from the Exploration class dove into a simple yet fascinating art technique – rubbing. By placing paper over a surface and gently rubbing it with a crayon, they could “copy” the natural and lively textures of familiar everyday objects – vivid, unexpected, and full of character.
The classroom at Soul Institute of Arts was instantly transformed into a creative lab – a place where students were free to explore, experiment, and reimagine different objects around them: Art can begin anywhere if you look at the world through the artist’s eyes!
